San Martino di Castrozza Winter

Located among the Dolomites, which have been given World Heritage status, San Martino di Castrozza is the ideal setting for couples and families to enjoy a winter holiday full of pampering, relaxation, sport and pristine, uncontaminated nature.

The Hotel Villa Aurora is only 500 m from where the cable car departs for Colverde and Punta Ces and 300 m from the Tognola cable car, part of the Dolomiti Superski Ski Area. There is a free private shuttle bus service.

The Slopes
At San Martino di Castrozza over 60 kms of perfectly snow covered slopes await you, at an altitude of between 1404 and 2357 m, inside a unique natural landscape.
The slopes cover every range of difficulty and are suitable for all levels of ability, and have thrilling routes and changes in gradient as well as fast sections over the plateau.
Perfect upkeep is guaranteed by 15 snow grooming machines which go to work every night to prepare the best possible slopes.
All the slopes in the ski area, including those in Passo Rolle and Passo Cereda, can be reached using the convenient free skibus service or the private shuttle bus.

The ski lifts
There are 23 ski lifts in the San Martino di Castrozza - Passo Rolle ski area, among which the fast automatic coupling cable car at Tognola and Colverde, at just 500 m from the Hotel Villa Aurora and the 4-seater chair lift at Punta Ces with a Plexiglas screen.

Snowboarding
Freestyle snowboarding enthusiasts can try out acrobatics and jumps on the fantastic set up in our two snow parks: San Martino Snowpark and Rolle Railz Park. The two exciting snow parks will be able to satisfy lovers of this discipline who can take to the air trying out the rail boxes, rails and rainbows, doing jumps and aerial acrobatics…

Cross-country skiing

The 30 kms of pistes, for the most part in the Natural Park and with two equipped ski centres, are simply spectacular. The pistes are regularly groomed and prepared both for the classic cross-country technique and the skating technique. The easy-intermediate routes are regularly supplied with snow by the snow cannons.

San Martino di Castrozza Cross-country Ski Centre
(altitude 1,450-1,700 metres asl, total length 9 kms)
There is an easy piste for beginners, an intermediate piste accessible to everyone over sunny mountain meadows, and a more difficult route through the dense pine forest of Colfosco.
The changing rooms, ski hire and deposit, and contact point for the ski instructors are in a traditional wooden mountain lodge.

The ski school area, covering 1,800 metres, has been floodlit.
The lighting system using illuminating spheres casts a soft light on the pistes.

Winter Walks
Enchanting walks through the woods guided by the Natural Park’s staff.
Paolo and Loredana recommend:
*Walks in the Forest of Violins. Short and easy guided trails of about 1 hr 30 mins in the majestic Forest of Violins in Paneveggio: a vast spruce wood with centuries-old trees that reach a height of 40 metres. Along the way there is a large deer enclosure and a rather daring bridge over the Trevignolo gorge.
*Winter landscapes in Val Canali. Short walks with the opportunity to taste local cheeses and mountain flavours.
